Slender, densely branched deciduous shrub that can grow up to 10 feet tall, 8 feet in spread. Fragrant foliage. White to yellow flowers appear in spring to fall with strong almond scent.

The plant is very fast growing especially when planted in the ground, providing full sun and good watering. It needs good drainage and doesn't like waterlogged conditions. In a pot, it can be kept as a compact specimen.

Almond Bush, White flowers have strong almond scent.
Slender, densely branched deciduous shrub, 3 to 10 feet tall, 8 feet in spread. Fragrant foliage. White to yellow flowers appear in spring to fall with strong almond scent. attractive to butterflies and bees. This is a honey plant. Low water use, drought tolerant.

Galanga is an herb used in cooking, especially in Indonesian and Thai cuisines. It is one of four plants known as galangal, and is differentiated from the others with the common name greater galangal (or simply Thai galangal). The galangals are also called blue ginger or Thai ginger.

Galanga is an herb used in cooking, especially in Indonesian and Thai cuisines. It has long narrow leaves and reddish-white flowers. The rhizomes, known as galangal, are valued for their spicy flavor and aromatic scent. These are used throughout Asia in curries and perfumes, and were previously used widely in Europe. They are also used as an herbal remedy.

This fragrant ginger looks like a dwarf bamboo bush. This Ginger boasts dark green leaves with red undersides. Bamboo Ginger is also a fragrant ginger that looks like a dwarf bamboo bush with a great clumping habit. Perfect patio container plant. Prefers some shade. Mature height of 2-3'. Zones 7 and higher. Reaches 2-3' and produces flowers.

The specific epithet luteocarpa means yellow fruit. The genus Alpinia is named after the Italian botanist and physician Prospero Alpino (1553-1616) who was a professor of botany at the university of Padua and extensively studied the Egyptian and Mediterranean flora.

Narrow-Leaf Cinnamon Ginger. The plant is a low mounding ginger with glossy leaves, and amazingly fragrant foliage. Gently brushing the leaves is all it takes to release a spicy cardamom-like aroma. Rhizomes are ginger-scented with a touch of Cinnamon. The flowers are quite beautiful, and resemble those of shell ginger to which it is closely related - the terminal inflorescence resembles that of Alpinia zerumbet, but with smaller bracts, and much larger, red and yelow labellums. These are tubular flowers in droopy clusters and come mostly in summer. This plant has attractive glossy foliage. Lanceolate glabrous leaves emerge from dense stands of pseudostems. In a shady tropical garden, the glossy dense foliage is lush and beautiful.

Hardy to zone 7, it is very easy to grow, and will grow from a small rhizome division into an enormous specimen in just a couple of years. If not protected from freezes, it will die back to the ground, but it will re-emerge from the rhizomes in the Spring, as long as the ground doesn't freeze. If you keep giving it room to spread, the clump will soon become several feet across and three feet tall.

Keep soil evenly moist during the warm months, but allow to dry out a bit more during the winter. Do not fertilize during the Winter. Alpinia nutans is very forgiving of soil type, and is reportedly tolerant of salt.

Hardy foliage plant is often used as a shade groundcover. Alpinia nutans is a Southeast Asian medicinal plant used to control hypertension, as diuretic, antifungal, and antiulcer. In Japan it is used as food preservative.

Alstroemeria psittacina is a parent of many of the spectacularly colorful Alstroemeria hybrids. The flowers are crimson on the outside with light lemon-lime shades at the petal tips and on the inside. The interior of the flower is streaked with greenish-black.

Parrotlily has escaped cultivation and naturalized in many parts of the world, including the southeastern U.S.

Parrotlilies like rich, slightly acidic soils (pH 5.8 -6.8). Grow in full sun where summer temperatures are moderate. High or partial shade is preferred in hot climates.
