What's new?

This is a Second Edition of the TopTropicals CD catalog which includes 1500 plants and almost 9000 photos.
We added many new pictures for those profiles that were presented in our first edition (that one included 600 plants), and more information was added: history overview, plant uses and cultivation tips. We added hundreds of new plant profiles (many of those from Thailand, Israel, New Zealand, South America).

In this edition, we added more photos to plant profiles showing the plant in different perspectives: from macro- detailed close-ups of flower, leaves, and fruit to the whole-plant overlook in a landscape. We continue our work to provide you with the most detailed information available!

In order to be able to include this huge amount of information in a single CD, only smaller size photos are used in this disk. To view larger size images, you may refer to our online Catalog at www.toptropicals.com.

Some plant species are supported by a separate additional articles on our website. If you see a link "see article about this plant" or similar - by clicking on it, you'll get to online article. Make sure to have internet connection at this point.

We also included several articles about our favorites based on brochures we publish at TopTropicals.

The program is designed with a user-friendly interface in "Windows Help" format.

"Search" and "Index" pages available for easy navigation. You may search Catalog by scientific name, synonyms, common names, family, key words, etc. - same like you did with our online catalog.

Information support

This project is specially made for amateur gardeners. We tried not to overdo it with scientific terms or descriptions and make it easy and understandable for a reader. You may call it "Tropical gardening for dummies".

You may notice that not every plant profile has complete information: some plants are described with long detailed articles, others have just a few sentences of a general description. This happens because we deal with rare plants, and many of them yet haven't been researched well enough. We have most of these plants in TopTropicals Botanical Garden collection and we do our best to collect useful information about them, as well as photographs. By presenting this Catalog, we are trying to fill the gap in rare plant knowledge and make this information accessible to people around the world. Tropical plants presented in this CD are originated from different tropical countries of America, Africa, Asia, Australia… Now you have a chance to learn about them right from your desktop without traveling far away.

This CD is another step to rare tropical plants research. Some information might look incomplete or uncertain. Please send us your comments and experience notes. If noticed any errors, typos, mistakes in this catalog, please report to us at info@toptropicals.com. Your help will be greatly appreciated!

We will also appreciate your additional information and more details. We continue collecting images that represent a plant in full: flowers, leaves, fruit, seeds, etc. If you would like to donate a picture, we can include it in our next edition with a notation of the author and his/her copyright.

Some plant profiles are marked with "?" sign - this means, we are uncertain about the name of the plant or the particular species of the genus (in case when several species included in one article). Please help us to identify them!

Copyright policy

Feel free to use our images as well as to copy this CD for your personal needs. Just one rule: please keep our copyright signs on photos and do not change the CD content (you may copy it "as is"). If you need a higher resolution image, contact us. For commercial use, please refer to our website for copyright policy and fees.
